The Preservation of BuNo 1515

The vision of the Devastator Rising Project, when realized, will finally see one example of the Douglas TBD-1 saved for future generations before it is lost forever. BuNo 1515 will act as a touchstone to the extraordinary events and remarkable people of the past, allowing visitors to blur time and space by standing in its presence, absorbing the stories of Jaluit, the Devastators, their crews, pioneering aviation, desperate naval warfare, the thrill of exploration, archaeology, materials science, and so much more. The partnership intends that the plane be presented “as found,” preserving its unique character and the genuine historic material that marks the last of its kind.
